FUNKWAYS
FUNKWAYS is Port Angeles composer and trumpet player Joel Ricci's all-original, rhythmic endeavor kicking up dust at the crossroads of primitive raw funk and intense vernacular jazz.
Friday Night
Swindler
Swindler produces a fresh and original sound that integrates funk, jazz and psychedelic rock into a masterful sonic tapestry. Their innovative approach makes each live experience compelling and unique. Funk based grooves, tight melodic arrangements and strong instrumental improvisation all create a vibe that brings the dance floor alive.
Originally formed to pay tribute to guitar hero and folk legend Jerry Garcia, the Andy Coe Band has evolved into the liveliest psychedelic jam band to come out of the Pacific Northwest in years. Guitarist Andy Coe, with Gary Palmer on keys, Chris Jones on bass, and Scott Goodwin on drums, deliver stellar improvisational tunes in mystical proportions.
Saturday Night
Pacific Northwest-based band blending soulful blues, psychedelic vibes, and high-energy rock led by captivating vocalist/guitarist George Yoder. The band's gritty sound pays homage to 1960's counterculture while driving rhythm section and electrifying stage presence, Magic is quickly becoming a must-see act on the local music scene.
Port Townsend homegrown funksters build multi-layered jazz infused funk grooves using live multi-tracking horn breaks and percussion.
The Honey Mumblers play original blues and roots rock music written by singer guitarist Paul Benoit with members of the high energy blues band The Jellyrollers including Sean Divine on harmonica and vocals, Dan Weber on drums, Bill Molloy on bass and special guest Ron Weinstein on the mighty Hammond organ.
Recording artist and trumpet player Joel Ricci (aka Lucky Brown), conducts an ensemble of Seattle rhythm and funk musicians in a dynamic and engaging live public ceremony/spectacle. Via his deep catalogue of over thirty self-produced and naive but sophisticated vinyl singles released in Europe and the USA over the past decade, he has been hailed by music mavens worldwide as a deep funk pioneer. His current live manifestation, “FUNKWAYS” is an all-original, organic endeavor kicking up dust at the crossroads of primitive raw funk and intense vernacular jazz. In the words of the artist: “Funkways’ mission is to commemorate, celebrate, and consecrate True Soul music as played from the heart, and to engender cultural health by promoting greater neighborhood social cohesion through the ancient practice of collective dance and community voice-raising."
